For over the last five years the City of Lowell has launched their annual fireworks display just feet away from the animal shelter. Update: Sasafras's surgery went well and she is comfortably recovering at the vet. The vet also found an old knee injury which is already healing. Although we will never know exactly what… happened to her, the vet does feel her injuries are suspicious of trama, possibly a kick. She will need several weeks to heal, but is on the road to recovery.
