There are a variety of ways you can volunteer your time to help the animals at The Lowell Humane Society. We utilize the help of volunteers seven (7) days a week. All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation before starting. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and be able to work independently. If unable to work independently, there are opportunities available for volunteers who may sign up along with their own mentor, please contact our volunteer coordinator before attending orientation. Due to a small staff, we are unable to offer continuous one on one mentors. Please check out our brochure for more information on our volunteer program: CLICK HERE FOR VOLUNTEER BROCHURE

If you are interested in serving court-ordered community service hours, please note that community service hours can only be served during the hours of 8 am-12 pm and must be discussed with our volunteer coordinator prior to starting up.

It is VERY important that you arrive to the orientation ON TIME. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will NOT be allowed into the orientation. Please email to RSVP for the next orientation.

Please also be aware that space is limited per orientation. We are a small facility and can only fit a limited number of people in for each orientation. It is recommended that you RSVP early for your desired orientation or you may be required to attend another session.

Note: if you are under the age of 18, you will need to have the waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Also, you must be over the age of 16 to volunteer at the shelter. There are other opportunities for those under the age of 16. Check out our Kids Programs and Teen Programs pages for more information.
