Studies have proven that even small stresses have a direct impact on an animal's health and temperament and can lessen their chances of adoption. The animals living in the shelter environment have already been victims in one way or another and shouldn't be subjected to this unnecessary trauma. If you are a Lowell resident, please visit the shelter today to sign a petition asking the city to find a new location for the annual festivities. We are accepting DONATIONS of all sorts of items—books, furniture, clothing, electronics, art work, etc. All items must be in gently-used, good and WORKING condition. No broken items OR older model TVs, please (flat screen TVs are fine). Items will be accepted anytime during our open hours on the following days/hours:

SUNDAY, APRIL 28—THURSDAY, MAY 2, from 12-4 pm

FRIDAY, MAY 3 from 12-6 pm

SATURDAY, MAY 4 FROM 8 am-6 pm

The Keeping Kids Safe project is one of the top kids’ safety programs in the country, taking FBI quality photos and digital fingerprints of your children. The record is only given directly to you (not databased), so that you have a file of your child’s important information in case of emergency.

Lowell Humane will have a table there and will have experts there to teach kids about dog safety. Join us for this informative and important event and help keep kids—AND PETS—safe!

We have partnered up with another non-profit, Vehicles for Charity, in the hopes of raising some money for LHS! The idea is simple: click on THIS LINK, fill out the form (it’s quick and easy), and in a couple of days, a local towing company will take your car away for FREE. The majority of the proceeds from the scrap metal and/or any other usable parts get donated to Lowell Humane Society! LHS can make up to SEVERAL HUNDRED dollars for each car donated.

Take your driveway or your garage BACK and help a GREAT CAUSE at the same time!

We couldn’t do what we do at our shelter without the help of our dedicated and caring volunteers. Our volunteers do everything from cleaning animal cages to walking dogs to representing the Lowell Humane Society through our Street Team. Through their hard work and devotion, our volunteers help to spread the message of responsible pet ownership and animal protection. We need volunteers seven days a week and on holidays, too!

All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation before starting work with LHS. Volunteers orientations are held on the second Thursday of each month. Contact Volunteer Coordinator Karen Hoffman at karen@lowellhumanesociety.org to sign up for the next orientation or to learn more!
