Volunteer Program
There are a variety of ways you can volunteer your time to help the animals at The Lowell Humane Society. We utilize the help of volunteers seven (7) days a week. All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation before starting .
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to help out at the shelter . If you are not 16 or older, please check out our Kids & Teens Programs.
Shelter Volunteers help with the daily chores of the shelter including walking dogs, socializing cats, feeding, cleaning and a variety of other tasks.
Office Volunteers help with paperwork, filing and marketing. They also help to make fun fliers to help some of our long term residents find homes or help to keep all animals displayed and updated on Petfinder.
Special Events Volunteers help to organize and coordinate off-site and special events like photo days, dog washes and our walk "Steps for Pets".
Foster Volunteers provide a safe place for kittens to grow and adults to heal. Some animals may need a temporary foster home for a few months, while others may only need a few weeks.
Transport Volunteers use their own vehicle to provide transportation for our animals to various veterinarian appointments throughout The Greater Lowell Area and to Tufts: Cummings Veterinary School in Grafton, MA.
