When our founders began their work back in 1873 in response to the poor treatment of horses, it directly responded to a need in the community. We continue to respond to our community’s needs, adjusting programs and offerings based on what it is that will best support those who need us most. Throughout this year, we’ll be sharing stories of our past. You’ll get a glimpse of old documents describing many horrific scenarios (for animals and children!) that Lowell Humane Society was able to put an end to.
Our friends at Lowell Historical Society are sharing our story in a 4 part series this year.
